Pricing questions
What exactly is a resource unit?
A resource unit is 1 vCPU + 2 GB RAM + 40 GB disk. Most small to medium business systems run comfortably on one or two units. Larger systems with heavy data processing or multiple concurrent users may need more. We will size your system on the intro call.
Why not just show a price list?
Because the right answer depends on your system. A simple single-module system uses one unit. A multi-system deployment with live data processing uses several. Publishing a single number would either mislead you or frighten off people with simple requirements. We prefer an honest conversation about what you need.
Is there a setup cost on top of the monthly fee?
Yes. System design and initial build are a one-off project cost. The monthly fee covers hosting, backups, monitoring, and platform support. Both are discussed and agreed on the strategy call before any work begins.
What happens if our requirements change after launch?
That is expected and planned for. Additive changes (new fields, new modules, new views) are typically a small incremental cost. Structural changes that affect live data are scoped in advance. Your monthly fee stays the same unless your resource usage changes significantly.
Can we host it ourselves?
Not in the current release. Data Chassis manages the hosting and infrastructure as part of the service — deployment, backups, monitoring, and support are all included. Self-hosting is on the roadmap as a future Enterprise feature.
With AI coding tools available, why not just build it ourselves?
If your team has the engineering skills and time to write, test, deploy, and maintain custom code — that is a valid option. Data Chassis is for teams who want the finished system, not the engineering project. Describing your process to our team is faster than generating and debugging code; the platform handles upgrades automatically; and hosting, backups, and support are included.
